Policy & Advocacy
|
Chambers of Commerce and Industry South Africa In committing itself to become a truly unified chamber movement with large and wide-reaching membership providing meaningful services and networking mechanisms, CHAMSA will have at its heart the overall objective to constructively inform policy decision-makers - whether public servants or businessmen - in public policy debate and formulation, for the profitable growth of the South African private sector in a socially responsible manner for the benefit of the South African business community. In this regard, CHAMSA aims to improve its ability in both the preparation and implementation stage of the policy process at all levels. Emphasis will be on submitting and disseminating policy proposals to key-decision makers through direct advocacy and lobbying and through Parliamentary liaison and representation. However, it is imperative that CHAMSA’s reach through the chamber movement should also extend to local and provincial governments to facilitate business projects and an improved business environment on behalf of all four organisations' chambers and their members. Disseminating pertinent information on a myriad of topics affecting business is one of the most important tasks that will be undertaken by CHAMSA. These will include notification of legislative changes, policy and trade updates, business facilitation products and services, as for instance with the DTI incentive scheme for enterprise development, and to retail all DTI products and services in this regard to the SMME sector.
